13 Mar Our Quality of Life…More Than Just Maintaining
“Fact- If standard of living is your number one objective, quality of life almost never improves. But if quality of life is your number one objective, standard of living invariably improves.”- Zig Ziglar
I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my service and preparing for this campaign, why I do it, and listening to what we, Baldwin County, desire for our future as a community. There are so many moving parts to county government, but the underlying theme in everything is our quality of life. Whether we are talking about government services, growth, education, infrastructure, economic development, the environment, or the budget, all of it comes back to the quality of life we enjoy in our Baldwin County community.
I hear candidates say that they want to maintain our quality of life, and I’ve said it, too. But that is a weak statement. I am working to improve our quality of life. Each of these areas of our county government and the affect it has on our daily lives should be working to improve our quality of life, and that is the perspective I want to share in this campaign moving forward.
We are taking this campaign for Baldwin County Commission District 3 back to the beginning when I ran for office the very first time in 2010. We are campaigning hard countywide, and trying to meet as many as possible across the county. Even our campaign kickoff event is going back to the beginning, March 20th at Little Hall in Silverhill at 5:00. Stop and visit after work as we launch our campaign to continue improving our quality of life in Baldwin County.
Over the next 13 weeks until Election Day on June 5th, I will post a blog each Tuesday about your county government, where we are, what incredible opportunities we have ahead, and how we will manage our challenges as a community to make our quality of life better, not just maintain it. Please subscribe to learn more about our campaign, and share these posts with your family and friends as we move towards Election Day. Thank you for the job that you have allowed me to do serving Baldwin County for the last 8 years. I humbly ask for your vote June 5th for the privilege to continue serving our community in this capacity that I enjoy every day.
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. …if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” -Romans 12:6-8
